On the Cisco if you pick up the handset or push speaker, you can then dial immediately without choosing New Call. In order to have it dial immediately (without using Dial), then you need to implement the dialplan.xml file on your tftp server. This does pattern matching to cause the phone to dial as soon as a pattern is matched (or after a defined timeout). Have you also got the SIP<macaddress>.cnf file on your tftp server?
