That's pretty much exactly what I told the Citel folks. If they could get the per-port cost down, those things would sell incredibly well. Also, the 8 and 16 port versions are needed. They asked me to beta test them (I declined since I was expected to purchase the devices), which suggests that they're coming soon. > $3100 US / 24 (assuming you max it out) is $130 US per > handset. Or if you need, say 25 phones :-) > Thanks to the poster for pointing it out though. Very interesting. One of the benefits is that it greatly simplifies the physical install, because no re-wiring is needed. This can save enough money to justify the hardware cost. Also, if you need more than 24 phones, you can do 24 this way, and the remaining few with pure IP sets. Still, that price just makes it tough to chew on. > John > > On Tue, 2006-02-07 at 17:10 -0500, Jim Van Meggelen wrote: > > Roughly USD$3100 > > > > > > > > > -----Original Message----- > > > From: Roy Morris [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > > > Sent: February 7, 2006 1:27 PM > > > To: Toronto Asterisk UG > > > Subject: RE: [Fwd: RE: [on-asterisk] Asterisk as > answering machine > > > with existing PBX] > > > > > > Any idea what the ball park cost of this is for 24 port? > > > > > > > > > > -----Original Message----- > > > > From: Ian Darwin [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > > > > Sent: Tuesday, February 07, 2006 1:00 PM > > > > To: Toronto Asterisk UG > > > > Subject: [Fwd: RE: [on-asterisk] Asterisk as answering machine > > > > with existing PBX] > > > > > > > > > > > > Jim sent me this off-list (and said it's OK to forward). > > > > Basically it's an expensive rack-mount unit that converts > > > "60 models" > > > > of proprietary telephone sets including NorStar and > > > Meridian (that's > > > > probably 10 or 15 of the models right > > > > there) into SIP phones. > > > > > > > > Not cost-effective at present for less that about 16 > handsets, but > > > > interesting (and hopefully the cost will fall, before the > > > company does > > > > :-)).
