Well it's all about perceptions in choice.

I got pretty irked when I called Rogers to complain about something and the CSR said "Thank you for choosing Rogers..." I asked what choice she thought I had if I had any interest in watching television. I was told I didn't have to watch television and I could do something else.

As much as I wished to reach through the phone and throttle the individual, technically she is correct.

I dunno, I think anyone who's been on a long trip through a radio-sparse area with only one station that comes in poorly would agree that there is a "captive audience" part to radio.

Which raises the interesting question: Do radio stations in those areas have a special license?
