Well you really only need a FXO if you want to connect to a regular
phone line and
a FXS port if you want to use a standard Plain Old Telephones (POTs)
You always need a Ethernet port if you want a IP connection (Internet or
IP-Phones)
For a starter PC I used a Compaq Deskpro PIII (1.0 Gb) with 500meg
memory these are very robust machines and work
very well. They cost around $250
