(my last thoughts on the subject) I think its a good time to have a
second look at these two approaches. The thing that has changed recently
is that the price of upgrading the CAT5 network is fairly rapidly
approaching the price of implementing the separate network.

Over the longer term the cost of running two networks will definitely be
higher and require more maintenance than a single network. That only
stands to reason so as I said in a previous email, for a very minimal
up-front pain (the difference between a dumb switch and a smarter
switch) you can have substantial long term gain.
