Voices....

Has anyone had experience with software (open source prefered) that will 
allow you to change the properties of a voice? 

I've been recording, and preparing my system using my own (using a 
tutorial ala ext 205) to record my prompts, however...

It just seems weird to me to be using my own voice, so I would prefer to 
have a different voice.. (and the wife so far has refused to read my 
scripts for the computer... heh)
