It'll change the behavior of one of macros in extensions.conf or extensions_additional.conf (I think). Probably the dialparties macro. It's quite possible that the variable you were looking at is actually where that value ends up in the config file. The thing is, it probably would have been overwritten when the config files were recreated from the database. That's just the way Trixbox works. There's a sort of jurisdiction in effect. Some files are for you to edit and some are exclusively for Trixbox. Don't edit the system files you you'll probably lose your changes on the next restart.

Also, if I make the change in Trixbox, which config file is it changing? I would like to know the background part just in case. If you're working from the GUI it's right there in FreePBX.
