Aaah, finally figured it out.
When no argument is specified in the VoiceMailMenu(),
Asterisk will automatically check the default context,
whether you have defined it or not.
I had to explicity pass on the vmdefault context to
this application.
Hence, in the extensions.conf file, I had to make the
following change:
exten => 222,n,VoiceMailMenu(@vmdefault)
