Yes, a client of ours does this on a regular basis. We have not done all the fancy things possible, so what we have is this:.

1. Call comes in.
2. Recorded call gets saved as "Year_month_date_CallerID_UNIQID.wav"
3. Call stays both on the server & auto FTP's to another server

So in other words, because asterisk is your frame work to bridge a telephone system to any application, you can go crazy with both the call recording, encryption, time stamps, storing them off site, storing them on site, zipping the files that has been generated for a week, and so on... You imagine it, then you can build it.

Cheers!
Reza.

Subject: [on-asterisk] Call recording

Is anyone here using Asterisk to record calls for regulatory requirements?
I'm curious if there are any special hoops that have to be jumped through to record the call of a stock trader that would rule Asterisk's call recording
functionality out and force you to use a solution like Dictaphone (or
whatever they are called these days).

For example, I do know that regs require the calls of a stock trader to be
timestamped... but is the file system stamping enough, or does it have to be
encrypted into the file?

Cheers,
Dave.
