I don't know about you John,
But I have a lot of customers who had tons of problems using the
SonicWall for VoIP using IAX2 signaling. The SonicWall keeps changing
the source UDP port and keeps blocking incoming voip packets.
Two of our customers had a service contract with SonicWall and the
SonicWall engineers couldn't get the problem resolved. SonicWall told my
customer they are working on a new firmware to resolve the issues, but
I've heard this 3 years ago and it's still not working.
Customers using SIP signaling seems to be getting better results if they
only use one SIP provider. If they use 2 or more SIP providers, they
start having the same problem where the UDP source port is changed by
the firewall and the incoming packets are blocked after a few seconds.
I'm writting this because some of my customers spent a lot of $$$ and
ended up using SnapGear routers for better results. The SnapGear are
priced about the same as the SonicWall, but they do include an outbound
SIP Proxy so you don't need to forward any UDP ports. Your server or SIP
devices needs to be able to use an outbound SIP proxy for this to work.
Cheers.

I'm using Sonicwalls for a few projects and found them satisfactory.
Can lend a few TZ units for testing.

Oh yes. I have a WRV200 right here in front of me and that is exactly
the reason I started this thread in the first place. After testing this
thing and finding out it is complete crap I started to wonder if a good
solution really existed.
I have a WRP400 on order and I'll test it and report back.
On a related note; I've been testing with the RVL200 and so far it looks
quite stable and handles UDP Nat just fine with a dozen phones. It
retails for just over $200 where as the WRP400 is less than $100.

John
