Leif,

Polycom 2.2+ version supports push xml configuration. The built in xhtml
browser could be useful, somehow there is no mention of changing the line
label. But, there is an idle browser which could be programmed to display
what you wish etc

Developers guide can be found here:

oice/soundpoint_ip_soundstation_ip_developers_guide.pdf

If you do find a solution, would love to hear about it.

Subject: Re: [on-asterisk] Changing Polycom Line Display Remotely

Hey John,

Sorry to not be very clear there.

I'm just using the phone as an input device to login to Asterisk. This is in
a clustered system, so what happens is everyone is assigned an extension
number and pin. When you sit down at one of the phones in the office, you
enter #4XXX (where 4XXX is your extension), enter your pin, and then
Asterisk will send calls destined for that extension to that device -- the
phone doesn't know anything about this.

What the customer is looking for is the ability to see what extension is
logged into the phone by changing the line name display.

I'll look into the 2.0+ firmware by reading the administration guide and see
if there isn't something that doesn't jump out at me. In the mean time, if
anyone happens to find it before me, feel free to let me know where to start
looking :)

Thanks!
Leif.
