I have a question I'd like to throw out there to get some feedback on.

Originally when DUNDi was first released into Asterisk, there was a
DUNDi test network that would allow anyone to peer and start playing
with the protocol. I guess the purpose was to test the concepts and
the implementation to determine where the bugs were, etc. It seemed to
be pretty successful, but after a couple of months interest died in it
since there was no real practical use for it (or at least no one
thought of one).

I'm interested in starting the test network back up, if for anything
to allow people to have a test bed to start utilizing DUNDi. However,
I'd like to find a more practical and useful reason for the network to
exist, but I haven't been able to think of any cool uses for the
technology in that type of environment.

So I guess I'm asking for your guys opinions and thoughts. Does anyone
have a practical and useful idea for a DUNDi network for the
community? We already have Free World Dialup (and a number of other
providers) giving us free "phone numbers" to route between people, so
that idea seems to be done to death. Perhaps there isn't really a
demand or use for this technology unless we're routing information
between our own internal systems, or if there is PSTN access (in which
case, is there ITSPs who might be interested in sponsoring access to
the PSTN if we allowed a little advertisement to play that might say
something like, "This call sponsored by XYZ. For more information
visit XYZ.com"?).

I'd like to see if there is some sort of useful function for DUNDi in
a community network that I might be missing here.

Thanks!
