Jim,
I know a few people who love their high end nokia's, some tried an
iPhone and went back to their Nokia's (mainly due to the hotspot
capability). I don't know of anyone here in Canada, just US and UK. The
coolest app is JoikuSpot Spot ( www.joikuspot.com ) that turns the phone
(any data enabled nokia) into a WiFI Hotspot, so you can use any WiFi
appliance to connect through it.
TigerDirect sells a bunch of different unlocked Nokia handsets ( N95,
E71, E90, N82.... )
I've not heard of Nokia removing their voip client but there are others
out there to replace it or improve upon it ( www.fring.com ).

Any opinions are appreciated. I don't even have to get an E71, but other
than the iPhone (which I don't want because there's no QWERTY) I haven't
heard of too many current-generation phones that the Asterisk community
likes, so I keep ending up at the E71. Props for other phones are still
appreciated though.
