I just did a gallery opening for a very good friend and had to send out over 2500 invites and a few calls, I first tried Vtiger and elastix call center mod (now v1.3), while it does work the vtiger mailer needs work and does not provide you with much information in the way of logs, so you do not know what email fail or why,
I opt to use a commercial mailer called Atomic Mail sender (no affiliation) it reads csv as well as the clipboard, so I exported the contact list from Vtiger to Atomic and used elastix call centre mod to do the rest. Worked well and at the end I had a very easy to read report of dead emails, errors and so on.
