The connector on the motherboard. My son pulled it off somehow and its the primary SATA.

Thanks, guys. This explains a lot. Too bad that SS drives were so expensive at the time. I would have bought one of those instead. BTW, does anyone know where to order a replacement SATA connector for a motherboard?
