Hello Martin,

Don't worry about the power connector...we can make our own :) http://www.sangoma.com/products_and_solutions/hardware/specialty_tools.html

The "Power Adapter" allows us to pull a Molex connector off the PCIe BUS. The board is 2U so you use the same slot for an A200.

*Thank-you,**

Thanks for all the replies on the server recommendations - one thing I am still unclear on, (and can't seem to get the info from Dell) - does the PowerEdge 1950 have an additional 5v Molex connector for powering a Sangoma FXS board?

I just came across this problem with a HP 2U server yesterday and ant to avoid a repeat.

Thanks

Martin

We're using an Dell R200 1U server here. All SIP so I can't answer to
Sangoma Compatibility.
It's configured with a pair of drives on a PERC 6 Raid controller setup for RAID 1, and a relatively slow processor, a 1.6Ghz Celeron. I don't do much
transcoding and our 30 or so users barely warm the CPU up.
This is a "typical" SMB office use, with about 1/3 of the users off site. No hot swap, but for us, taking it down after hours to swap a disk is not an
issue.

Subject: [on-asterisk] Dell server recommendation?

Hi,

We normally used our own Intel based servers for Asterisk, however I have someone looking for a Dell server to go with the rest of their equipment. The server will be used for a 50 person Asterisk installation with a Sangoma dual PRI card.

Can anyone recommend a particular model of Dell server that they have used consistently with Asterisk? I know that a while back there were some issues with particular models so I am curious what people have now?

Thanks

Martin
