Hello Liviu,
Try out the instruction provided by the following link:
http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/Optware/Asterisk
There is also a dedicated mailing list for asterisk on NSLU.
Please specify the distro that you are running on your NSLU.
Regards,
Ovidiu Sas

Subject: Re: [on-asterisk] How to troubleshoot the voicemail ?
Everything is installed from binary packages. Personally, I find it
pretty difficult to compile anything for an embedded platform like the
NSLU2.
By the way, I've been running Asterisk on a regular server for several
years and I have not had this issue.
Thanks,
Liviu

Have you installed from source or from a binary package ?
If you have build from source you may want to check the 'make menuselect'
options to make sure all voicemail components are there.

Actually the Asterisk logs show nothing and there is no mail log.
While I was looking around I found a file called astmail-5I3nSR in /tmp/
I tried running the sendmail command exactly as in the mailcmd=
statement in voicemail.conf passing the file in /tmp and I got the
email properly, so all I can think of is it's not running sendmail at
all.
Thanks,
Liviu

Ok, then the next step is to look at the asterisk log (with full
verbose) and maillog to see what happens when you deposit a voicemail.

I already did that, of course, because the utility is called
mini_sendmail and is located in /opt/usr/bin

Ok, then you probably need to change the default command asterisk
voicemail uses to send the voicemail. In voicemail.conf:
; You can override the default program to send e-mail if you wish,
too
;
;mailcmd=/usr/sbin/sendmail -t

Can you send an email from the command line using sendmail?

Hello,
This is probably more for the experts in running asterisk on
embedded
devices.
I just installed asterisk on a Linksys NSLU2 and I'm having issues
getting
the voicemail application to send emails.
I am pretty sure that my config files are ok, because I used them
on a
different embedded device and everything was OK.
Is it possible to make the voicemail application log more
information so I
can try to figure out what's going on ? Currently it doesn't write
anything
in /var/log/asterisk/messages (/opt/var/log/asterisk/messages for
NSLU2).
For the mail transport I tried using both the esmtp package and the
mini_sendmail package.
Thanks,
Liviu
