Hey Bruce, Spark/Openfire are using jabber as a back-end last I checked.

Microsoft communicator is also a good choice for enterprise users as you can tie it in via tcp voip nativly with asterisk 1.6.x

The company that makes x-lite, also "eye beam" offers skinning and branding. Eye beam is the client that supports sip messengering also.

Hope that helps

Regards,

Phil

Hi Guys,

Looking for an instant messenger + soft phone client all in one. Don't mind
installing the backend software as long as it's linux friendly. Would be great
if it's open source so it can be skinned and branded. I know of Spark+Openfire
but wondering if there is anything or if you can give good feedback for
Spark/Openfire.

Thanks,

Bruce
