For our remote employees we utilize the Plantronics .Audio 400 USB DSP folding headsets mainly or the model 750 ( non folding over ear). The reason we use these is that we ran into issues with user's soundcards, some not being full duplex ( especially in laptops ) and has noise cancelling integrated. With these, the USB dongle has a dsp chip based sound card which eliminates the variable of the users sound card. No need to install drivers just plug and go. You should be able to pick the 400 up for around $40-45 usb dongle included.

The only complaint we have had from our users is a few of the women go their hair snagged in the hinges of the folding version.

Since this stuff changes all the time, I wanted to get a feel for what sort of headsets for softphones people are liking these days.

My sense is that a gamer's headset would probably be a good choice, but I'm not sure.

Thoughts?
