We tried many brands - preferring USB models with sound cards for similar
reasons to others here. We felt pretty good about the midrange Logitech
models, but they never seemed to last, and were quite expensive. We tried
the Plantronics - in particular I can say that the 995H is expensive and
really poorly designed.

For the past year we have been very happy with the 'Everyman' - purchased
through Skype for between $20 and $30 (price seems to have gone from $20 to
$30). It folds, which can be nice for travelling, is cheap enough that we
can buy lots, and sounds good. I also like the way you can plug in USB or
analog jack - which makes it handy as a pair of headphones in a pinch.
