Hi Bruce,

If you're not hung up on the DECT protocol, why don't you just use a
couple of ATAs and WIFI in the middle.

ATAs don't need to connect to a PBX, that's just the conventional
setup. There's no reason you can't do

Phone Set <--> SPA2102 <--> WIFI Bridge  <300M of air> WIFI Bridge
<--> SPA3102 <--> POTS Line

It's the same number of components but if you choose WIFI then you're
using commodity hardware and you have lots and lots of choice. I
haven't used this exact application but I've used the components
separately.

For the wifi bridge component, you could use routers in bridge mode or
wireless gaming adapters. I've done both. At one of my offices, I
used $60 routers running tomato and some big Hawking antennas to
connect two buildings across a parking lot. You have total
flexibility here, choose your router/bridge, choose your antenna, etc.
If it takes multiple hops for some reason, you can buy those range
extenders at retail.

For the ATA <-> ATA part, I did this for someone who had two
warehouses connected by IP but not twisted pair. They wanted to page
both warehouses at the same time on their analog paging system. I
hooked up the ATAs as shown with one in "Immediate" (Batphone) mode so
that as soon as the one paging system went off hook, it took the other
end off hook too. It's been a while so I don't recall the config
details and I don't think we used SPAs at the time.

One nice thing about this is that you could test it end to end on your
desk for about $200 and if it doesn't work, the worst thing that
happens is that you've got a couple of extra ATAs and routers hanging
around. If you want to beef it up, you can go and buy industrial wifi
components but at least you'll have proved the concept first.

Hope this helps,

Dave
