I run my net4801 in the 2 interface mode, this is done because I have my
astlinux box located on my main home network. my main netserver has already
a DHCP server on it. my astlinux box has its own dedicated connection to the
internet with a public IP for the purpose of my IP trunks and softphones
from outside the house. ie - my friends can access my * system directly if
needbe. however I dont want to waste double internet bandwidth for phones
inside the house so I have the INTIF turned on, however that DHCP server
seems to be rogue. I went in and under /etc/init.d changed the permissions
of dhcpd to be non-execute. i rebooted the astlinux unit, I can still
sometimes get a DHCP address from the astlinux box when im on my PDA or
laptop. I did a ps waux and didnt see dhcp in there anywhere... am i doing
something incorrectly? I need both interfaces so setting INTIF off is NOT an
option..
