I booted up in Dec and accessed the rc.conf file via
https://192.168.101.1 just fine. Now after searching extensively and
doing much reading, I boot up and cannot access that same point. I had
added a 2nd NIC, so I removed it but still no go. So I switched to the
other one, but still no go.

I ran ifconfig: every thing seems ok except for the RX packets are 0 in
eth0. There are RX bytes being reported in eth0. Is eth0 working ? I
tried pinging with dotted addresses, but could only get network
unreachable. I would include the ifconfig but the astlinux machine is in
basement. Until I learn to mount something and save, I'll have to wait a
bit.

After about 2-4 minutes there is message: NETDEV WATCHDOG: eth0 transmit
timeout. Then nearly a whole screen full of info comes out. 5 or so
minutes later it does it again.

Here are the two card descriptions:
3Com 3CSOHO100-TX Office Connect Fast Ethernet
3Com 3C595-TX Fast EtherLink PCI
Both are 10/100

One of these two card worked in Dec with the CD I setup from the ISO
file. I am using the same CD now.

Are these cards sensitve to WHICH pci slot they are plugged into ? I
guess I will try that idea in the meanwhile....
