I would also go for X10 solution. Serial port to X10 transceiver (CM17A), some software and a receiver module with an appliance socket (like TM751) should do it. You can buy it out of eBay for a fraction of the cost of smarthome.com
There is FireCracker (CM17A Serial to X10 transceiver) for $9. http://cgi.ebay.com/LowShipCost-X10-FireCracker-Interface-CM17A-Software_W0Q QitemZ9742474870QQihZ008QQcategoryZ50584QQcmdZViewItem There is also a TM751 module for $13. So, with combined shipping the total should be around $20 :) I usually buy either from that guy I just mentioned or this one: http://stores.ebay.com/Digitronex-Domain_X10-Controllers_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQf subZ9QQftidZ2QQtZkm Never had any problems with either of them. Here you can find all kinds of guides on programming CM17A and other transceivers. http://www.linuxha.com/ There is also a USB one you can buy like for $12-13 (CM19A), but I never tried it. I hope, it will help :) Dmitry. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Michael Sprague Sent: Wednesday, June 14, 2006 7:00 AM To: Discussion of AstLinux - Asterisk on Compact Flash Subject: Re: [Astlinux-users] UPS protection On 6/14/06, Graham S. The heyu software above has since been upgraded for two-way use, it was previously outgoing only, which is what you want anyway. http://www.sprg.net/2006/asterisk-debian-x10-auto-dial-voicemail With this setup, which is in my crawl space I can power cycle equipment with a RF remote control, but the functionality you want would be simple to add. ~michael _______________________________________________ Astlinux-users mailing list [email protected] http://lists.kriscompanies.com/mailman/listinfo/astlinux-users Donations to support AstLinux are graciously accepted via PayPal to [EMAIL PROTECTED] _______________________________________________ Astlinux-users mailing list [email protected] http://lists.kriscompanies.com/mailman/listinfo/astlinux-users Donations to support AstLinux are graciously accepted via PayPal to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
