There was a thread some time ago about this. In v0.4.0 Astlinux shifted
to using a different, more compact, set of libraries for the compile
process, a good idea given its embedded system design ideals. However,
Digium's codec is delivered as a binary and does not work woth 0.4.0.

Kristian has petitioned Digium to recompile against the new libraries
in order to provider broader support in the codec, but I don't think
this has happened yet. As I recall Digium did indicate that it would
make economic sense if there was a certain level of demand for the new
binary, and we were approaching that quickly.
