As I mentioned before, this will work, but you limit yourself to upgrading in place with the astup utility. Please note that astup currently does not work (it will run, but the repository that it is fetching the files from is not up to date). I'm sure Kristian will be fixing this and possibly will have this in place at the same time he officially releases 0.4.3. Ideally you'd have two storage devices. One for the astlinux image, one for the key disk. This separates your operating system from the configuration data. When you want to move to a new version of astlinux, just pull the OS device, replace it with a new device and reboot. You'll have to select the appropriate option from grub's boot menu one time (after which it will remember). What you are doing will work, I just don't feel it is ideal.
