Matthew:

I just went through similar but do not claim to be any sort of expert on
these issues ... I have similar setup here with fresh install of CentOS 4.3
to use as build box ... I also yum'd the openvpn and few other goodies that
I needed which may be unique to my requierment so wont bore you with it ...

Suggestions:

Just bfore you "make", do a "make menuconfig" and take a look at the
"Package selection for target" ... I had to "unselect" madwifi and chose to
"select" arno firewall and acpi (these are optional but I needed them, the
madwifi gizmo caused me some strange errors related to uudecode but I did
not need it anyway) ... Also check and make sure your "Target architecture"
is set to "i586" which I think is the default ...

I found that trying to do the build using my logon caused problems but when
I did it as root these all went away ... So being a lazy sob, I just do it
as root ... Someone smarter could figure a better way I am sure ...

Hope this helps you get a little further ... Can tell you I was indeed able
to get it to build and I am not sharpest tool in shed ... So don't give up
...

Subject: [Astlinux-users] More Build Questions...

Sorry to keep bugging the list with newbie build-questions, but I'm at a bit
of a loss as to how to interpret my newest stumbling block in building my
own images:

I've set up a fresh (default) install of CentOS 4.3 Server to eliminate any
problems caused by my previous (Debian) build-box.

To this I used Yum to add: subversion, gcc, flex, and bison.

Then I followed the build instructions on voip-info.org... Below are my
exact command lines:

# svn co http://svn.astlinux.org/astlinux/trunk astlinux # cd astlinux # cp
AstLinux.config .config # make oldconfig (defaults selected) # make

This got me further in the build process than I've ever been before, but
stopped with the following:

--------------------------------------------------------

Applying asterisk-uclibc-compat.patch using plaintext:
patching file Makefile
Hunk #1 succeeded at 356 (offset 11 lines).

Applying asterisk_uclibc.patch using plaintext:
patching file include/asterisk/compat.h
ifeq (,y)
/bin/sh: -c: line 0: syntax error near unexpected token `,y'
/bin/sh: -c: line 0: `ifeq (,y)'
make: ***
[/home/mfarley/astlinux1/astlinux/build_i586/asterisk-1.2.11/.source]
Error 2
[EMAIL PROTECTED] astlinux]#

-----------------------------------------------------------

As usual, any advice anyone may have to offer will be greatly appreciated.
The trunk download was from this morning (8-25-06).

Thanks!

-Matt Farley
