G.Hendershot, I had this same issue doing a build that included madwifi on my CentOS 4.3 install and needed to add the "sharutils" package to fix. This package included the UUCP tools for uudecode functionality that madwifi required. On CentOs you can add this package by running "yum install sharutils".
