I cant think of any good reason why these would not work ... but I have
never had a good reason to try so do not have any first hand experience to
share with you ...

Don't suppose you know if CentOS runs is MS Virtual PC or VMware okay?

I have had good results with CentOS and Fedora ... stick with current
releases to get best results ... I think the only issue I have had with
CentOS v4.3 is a strange issue with not seeing my USB -> CF reader/writer
... it only sees the CF card if the card is inserted when I boot the machine
... probably something I did wrong in the config but its a minor issue so I
never bothered to chase it down ...

I am generally lazy so when I setup my devel machine I went ahead and
installed the Gnome GUI and a number ofther toys that are well in excess of
the minimum required ... having the GUI provides the advantage of letting me
keep a text file on the desktop with all the commands required to build
Astlinux ... I think cut & paste these into the terminal window as required
... I know this will make some of the purists puke but it works for me ...
as I only do the build process maybe once a month or so, I would forget how
to do it if not for this ...

Hi all

I am just wondering what the best Linux distro is for using the dev
environment? I am a Linux nub so the simpler the better I suppose. Just I
am after a custom CF image with the X100P uk caller id patch in so I may as
well have a go at creating my own.

Any help is appreciated.

Graham.
