I'm pretty sure this is a known asterisk problem, not an astlinux 
problem.  I don't know your exact setup, but if Asterisk is resolving an 
external SIP address via DNS and is unable to do so, your system will 
hang.  I don't know if this can be avoided with a local caching dns 
(such as dnsmasq) or not.  I'd be willing to bet that if you reloaded 
asterisk or restarted the SIP channel the internal stuff would have worked.

If you can prove this one way or another, it would be valuable information.
