I was going to write a Perl utility to:

(1) grovel through /mnt/kd, get the list of all filenames;
(2) then figure out what the corresponding name in /stat/ would be;
(3) diff the /stat source file with the keydisk variant, and see if 
they're different;
(4) if they are different, copy the file into 
/oldroot/mnt/asturw/path-minus-stat;

but it seems that our Perl install only includes the perl binaries but 
none of the core libraries...

Since many of the perl modules are just text, how much space would it 
take to add a 3 or 4 dozen modules?
