Hi all, I originally posted this over at the Soekris tech mailing list, but Darrick Hartman suggested that I give it a shot here too. I just received a Soekris net5501 board and tried to get Astlinux up and running on it. I've run into a problem where Astlinux loads, but refuses to see any USB device plugged into the onboard USB port. I've tried both building Astlinux from source, as well as using the pre- built images over at Darrick's website (http://www.djhsolutions.com/astlinux/astlinux-trunk-1625-via-serial.tar.gz ).
I've tested multiple USB flash drives, external hard drives, printers, etc - basically anything I could find powered or unpowered. In each and every case, there is no indication in the dmesg output that the USB device has been detected. Nada, zip. Right now, I'm thinking I might had a bad USB connector on the board ... but if anyone can think of another explanation, please let me know. Thanks, - Mike K ---- Here's some config info (using Darrick's image): pbx tmp # uname -a Linux pbx 2.6.20.21-astlinux #1 PREEMPT Thu Mar 6 11:48:45 CST 2008 i586 unknown Relevant USB bits from dmesg: ehci_hcd 0000:00:15.1: EHCI Host Controller ehci_hcd 0000:00:15.1: new USB bus registered, assigned bus number 1 ehci_hcd 0000:00:15.1: irq 15, io mem 0xa0006000 ehci_hcd 0000:00:15.1: USB 2.0 started, EHCI 1.00, driver 10 Dec 2004 usb usb1: conPCI) PCI: Setting latency timer of device 0000:00:15.0 to 64 ohci_hcd 0000:00:15.0: OHCI Host Controller ohci_hcd 0000:00:15.0: new USB bus registered, assigned bus number 2 ohci_hcd 0000:00:15.0: irq 15, io mem 0xa0005000 usb usb2: configuration #1 chUSB Mass Storage support registered. usbcore: registered new interface driver hiddev usbcore: registered new interface driver usbhid drivers/usb/input/hid-core.c: v2.6:USB HID core driver and the output of lsmod: Module Size Used by binfmt_misc 10440 1 pc87360 18288 0 hwmon_vid 2464 1 pc87360 hwmon 3060 1 pc87360 i2c_isa 4928 1 pc87360 i2c_core 20464 2 pc87360,i2c_isa ztdummy 4520 0 rtc 12336 1 ztdummy zaptel 192612 3 ztdummy hdlc 6180 1 zaptel ppp_generic 25428 1 zaptel slhc 6112 1 ppp_generic geode_rng 2144 0 geode_aes 5636 0 blkcipher 5344 1 geode_aes via_rhine 22184 0 mii 5024 1 via_rhine cs5535_gpio 4596 0 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges.
