Hi Miguel,

Otherwise, what is the way to compile such a codec for AstLinux?
I admit humbly have not succeeded to generate a new instance of the distribution by using a host system. I need your lights to get myself back on track. I have a Soekris net5501 machine and I am using a station with an AMD Athlon and a kernel 2.6.29.

I have compiled this Codec source for a machine with an Intel Atom N230 using Centos 5.2.

For the legal issue, It seems that the Codec source is licensed under the GPL :

Files:
- codec_g72x.c - GPL, code is based on code by Daniel Pocock at
  http://www.readytechnology.co.uk/open/ipp-codecs/
  and various Asterisk bundled codecs;
- build.sh - compile script;
- autotools files initially contributed by Michael E. Kromer
  michael.kromer at computergmbh dot de;
- g723_slin_ex.h, g729_slin_ex.h, slin_g72x_ex.h - sample speech data;
- all other C source files are copied from IPP samples, IPP license apply.
Best regards,

JRA

I don't believe is only a matter of codec support, it's also legal issue. Without the proper licenses astlinux project can't incorporate into the distribution the codec nor the links to facilitate such a job. Yet,I believe it can be done. This is how I see it, nevertheless you should wait for a astlinux developers answer this email.

    Hello,

    We find the link http://asterisk.hosting.lv/#src to the site where you
    find the G.729 and G723 codec. It is possible to compile its for the
    following release of AstLinux. It exists a version for the Geode
    but it
    is not compatible with the Astlinux Glibc.

    Best regards,

    JRA
