OK, thanks.

OK. Where does the make log its progress, so I can dig around to try
to find the problem?

I need to patch Astlinux, in order to get the Junghanns singleE1
miniPCI card to work (mISDN 1.1.7 in Astlinux does not have this
card's subvendor ID, so I need to see whether adding it will allow
this card to be recognized). I tried patching 0.6, but the card was
not detected. It occurred to me that this was my first attempt at
building from source, so I thought I would undo any changes from the
default config one by one, until I had a working system, then try to
determine where any problems lay. The trouble is, I took it all the
way back to simply checking out 0.6, changing to net5501 via make
menuconfig, and then trying to make. That led to the errors in my
message. Hence my trying specifically 0.6.7, to try to get a working
build. Once I've cracked that, I'll try patching for the Junghanns
card.

Yup - so I worked out. Currently building 0.6.7, so we'll see how that
goes. For info, my build environment is Ubuntu jaunty, 32-bit desktop
build installed on a 64-bit AMD laptop.

Thanks

Tom
