I think we've finally got the money together to migrate our head office away
from our elderly Avaya system. Before committing to this, I thought I'd ask
the opinion of the list as to whether the planned replacement system will
cope.

The existing system is an Avaya IP406 with around 50-60 analogue handsets,
connected to a single PRI which has 8 channels. The plan is to replace the
handsets with Snom 300s (initially around 45 of them), and use a net5501
with Berofix and PRI module running Astlinux. In addition, the system will
have a dedicated ADSL line (832kb upstream) for IAX2 calls to and from our
other offices, which are already running Astlinux on net5501s.

Will the net5501 handle that many handsets? The old system obviously only
had 8 channels for external calls, but there could be more than that with
the replacement, with the IAX2 calls over ADSL. There are obviously also the
calls within the building to take into consideration.

Anyone able to offer an opinion?

Many thanks as ever

Tom
