I would venture to say "yes".

However, you problem isn't going to be with handling the handsets but in
the concurrent instances of transcoding.

Yoa will no doubt need to send calls to the Berofix in ULAW (G711)
format and so if your Snoms are configured for that then you'll just
pass them through as if acting like a router.

If however you are having to convert from GSM to ULAW (making this up as
I go along) then there will be a performance hit. This "hit" increases
with the amount of concurrent calls. If you can use the same CODECs
end-to-end then you'll cut down on processor consumption. AstLinux will
behave more like a router than a PBX only getting involved when needed
to set up the calls or put callers on hold etc.

You should also look to install your sound files in all the relevant
CODEC formats too for the above reasons.

A while back I did some SiPP stress testing of AstLinux running on a
NET4801 for a project I was doing. The results are here
http://www.enicomms.com/asterisk-testing/astlinux042.html Granted this
was with 0.4.2 and on lesser hardware but you should get the idea.
