I have run various versions of astlinux on dual core servers with large hard drives...
Astlinux is super efficient on these types of machines.. I had to make some adjustments to the kernel config to get the proper modules enabled for my particular Ethernet ports, disk controllers etc.. but once I got it built the performance is great!... I have never had any more than 50-75 calls up at a time so I cannot give you good benchmarking data on the asterisk side of things.. but my CPU usage at 75 calls was less than 20%.. That was using all external gateways and T1 ports.. Im sure the CPU usage might go up if using internal PCI / PCIE T1 or PRI spans.... Because the astlinux kernel is no different than any other linux kernels other than its configuration at compile time the possibilities are endless.. you can enable as few or as many kernel modules and devices as you need to make your hardware work... -Christopher -----Original Message----- From: Kristian Kielhofner [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Monday, November 08, 2010 10:21 AM To: AstLinux Users Mailing List Subject: Re: [Astlinux-users] Astlinux on a real server Michael, I have some experience with this.
