If you edited "/stat/etc/rc.conf" that is not good:

http://doc.astlinux.org/userdoc:tt_editable_files

to undo that, issue the command:
--
rm /oldroot/mnt/asturw/stat/etc/rc.conf
--

Back to your email issue...

To test, issue the following at the shell:
--
echo "To: [email protected]
Subject: email test

email test
" | sendmail -t
--

Then "tail /var/log/messages" and look for msmtp/msmtpqueue stuff.
