I have a couple of HP 5630 thin clients that I have attempted to install
AstLinux. Not to be confused with the 5730 which installs fine.
I follow my normal procedure, booting off a USB stick with Damn Small Linux (
command line, no GUI ), then fdisk the installed flash to wipe out the existing
partition table, dd a current image of AstLinux ( geni586 ) and reboot.
To my puzzlement these show the flash drive as /dev/hdc.
There appears to be no /dev/hda or /dev/hdb
On reboot, Runnix takes off, but somewhere along the line all stops dead in the
water. I assume it is looking for /dev/hda and it doesn't exist.
I assume either Runnix or AstLinux needs something diddled, but have no idea
where to begin.
Little hardware information is available on these units.
Anyone have a suggestion?
Or I Could remove the flash and ram and power supply, and send the rest to the
recycle bin!!
Seems a waste as the TC is otherwise good.
I really don't want to always boot off a USB stick
