Hi Michael,

May I suggest a new trick :-)

Provided you have SSH access to your AstLinux box, from a typical Web Browser
box (OS X for me) from the terminal issue:
--
ssh -D5000 root@pbx
--
This establishes a SOCKS proxy via localhost:5000 on your Web Browser box to
your AstLinux box, then config your web browser to use the SOCKS proxy, for
example Firefox (image):

Firefox:
Preferences -> Advanced -> Network -> Connection: "Configure how Firefox
connects to the Internet" { Settings... }

Hit { OK }, and presto your web browser acts just as if it were sitting inside
your AstLinux box, just like "links" but with pictures, javascript, etc .

Give it a try, works quite well. Can be a handy trick to reach an IP Phones's
web interface that are not normally routable over the VPN.

So, does this change your feelings for "links" ?

Lonnie
