Good to hear everything is working now.

The problem you noted was fixed in r8145 (2017-02-02) which will officially 
appear in AstLinux 1.2.10.
"... if '/mnt/kd/ddclient.conf' exists, any of DDUSER, DDPASS, DDHOST may now 
be undefined  ..."

That explains why you needed to define those variables before the "dynamicdns" 
service would start.
