  Yes, I am subscribed to astlinux commits.  I assume you refer to LXC
which is pretty exciting.  I don't know a whole lot about that but I
suppose it would be possible to link a LXC container to a physical NIC
rather than to a s/w bridge.  So yes, there could be applications for that.

For LXC... is it necessary to enable the intel virtualization extensions...
ie, if I run AstLinux inside VMware, should I turn on VT-x/EPT and IOMMU.

If your LXC implementation is general purpose it would open doors to a
whole lot of "accessory" applications running on the same box.
