sudo iwconfig wlan0 power off
Error for wireless request "Set Power Management" (8B2C) :
    SET failed on device wlan0 ; Operation not supported.

Like I mentioned before, if the laptop is only a few centimeters away from
the router, then it can connect without a problem. The interesting thing is,
that it doesn't really matter if the wifi is switch on or off on my laptop
(it's a hardware key).

Any help or suggestion is appreciated.
