There are so many good CCTVs out there now. They come from Clarity, Humanware,
and Freedom Scientific just to name a few. In general they are stand alone
units, and can be run with a switch to flip between the computer image and the
image from the camera, or the two can be split or overlayed. Some models also
give the option of saving images from the camera to the computer where they may
be further enhanced or manipulated. Your best bet is to schedule
demonstrations with dealers of low vision products. Some will even come to
your home or office.

Thanks for your response.

Is this a self contained unit, or does it require a laptop?

Is there a web site where I can get some additional information?

What I am looking for doesn’t really have to be portable.

Most of what I will be looking atwill be in my office.

Thanks

Steve

Steve,

Here are our thoughts from MoAT, ETC. The Aumax might be a good choice. It’s
hard to tell for sure though since you are going to be looking at large paper.
They’re may be better options out there for camera positioning. The Aumax is
somewhat portable and comes in 19” and 22” widescreens. The camera can be used
on the left, right or front of the monitor. It also has distance viewing and
different contrast options.

There’s also the Transformer, but I don’t think the camera position would be
high enough to view the house plans. Benefits it that it’s much more portable,
and it’s used with a laptop.

I posted this email earlier to the list and it never showed up so I am posting
it again.

Hello, I am looking for some information about CCTV magnifiers.

I saw one about four or five years ago. It was similar to a laptop in size and
construction except a CCTV camera attached to the top of the monitor.

I am visually impaired but can still see a little with my left eye with color
enhancement and magnifications.

In my business, I need to see house plans and other information that is printed
on larger paper than the standard legal and letter size.

I would like to have some info from someone that has used a device like this
and maybe make some suggestions as to what type of equipment I need to enable
me to view the plans and drawing that I deal with.

I hope this post is appropriate for this list, I apologize if it isn’t.

I would appreciate any advice, suggestions or input.

Thanks,

Steve Crews
