Been there; done that, Alicia. Most people have no idea how hard a
trucker's life really is; the programs that rain truckers make it look so
glamorous and like you'll get rich.

I am glad you got him talked out of being an owner-operator; I just can't
imagine it, especially these day.

My prayers go with him as he again heads out tomorrow.

Boy oh boy; the truck seldom stops then, but they aren't making money if
that truck isn't moving; I bet he really treasures his time at home.

Darla,

Yes, that means that he has a team driver. When my husband is driving, his
partnor is sleeping and vice versa.

Alicia,

Doe4sthat mean he drives with another team member? My ex would have been
thrilled if I could drive or keep log books.

Glad you talked him out of owner-operator; it sounds nice on paper but for
the reasons you cite and so much more--you would have no life at all. <grin

Warmly,

Darla

Darla,

No, I talked him out of owner operator. I didn't want to deal with all the
hassels of taking care of the taxes and all of that. He drives for CRST,
which a team expedited companyr.

Been there; done that. I hope he isn't an owner-operator; I can't imagine
the expenses now with diesel costing more than gasoline. Who would have
ever thought that would happen.

Aw, Alicia; what kind of work does your hubby do that makes him have to be
gone.

My ex drove truck over-the-road, which actually turned out to be a good
thing for me, as he was so intrusive when around, but I know this isn't so
for most couples where one must work away from home.

Alicia,

HP is notorious for this. You will need to have somebody
sighted to go into the bios to turn those keys off since Jaws doesn't work
before Windows starts.

To disable, or enable, the function key (fn) in the BIOS, do the following
steps.

list of 6 items

1. Press the power button to turn on the computer.

2. Immediately begin pressing the f10 key to open the BIOS setup window.

3. Use the right-arrow or left-arrow keys to navigate to the System
Configuration option.

4. Use the up-arrow or down-arrow keys to navigate to the Action Keys Mode
option, and then press the enter key to display the Enable / Disable menu.

5. Select the desired mode:

list of 2 items nesting level 1

. Disabled : Requires pressing fn key + f1 through f12 to use the action as
indicated on the action key. For example, if Disabled , pressing fn + f11
will

mute the sound as indicated on the key on this model PC. Alternatively,
pressing f11 only will minimize

and maximize a web browser if open.

The action keys may vary depending on the model of notebook.

. Enabled : Requires pressing only f1 through f12 to use the action as
indicated on the action keys. For example, if Enabled , pressing f11 only
will mute

the sound as indicated on the key on this model PC. Alternatively, pressing
fn + f11 will minimize

and maximize a web browser if open.

The action keys may vary depending on the model of notebook.

list end nesting level 1

6. Press f10 key to save the selection and restart the computer.

list end

The function key (fn) option can be reset at any time.

Subject: [ATI] new laptop help

Hello All,

I purchased a new HP laptop for school and personal use and have a question
related to setting it up for optomal use. Currently I have to press the FN
key in combination with a function key and another key to perform a task,
and wonder how do I disable the fn key. For example, to bring up a links
list the key stroke combination is insert plus f7; however, I have to press
the fn key in combination with the typical insert plus f7 keys. This is
extremely difficult to do and would like to be able to use the functions
keys for functions keys rather than the toggle or duel use they are capable
of. Does anyone have any idea how to disable the fn key to allow me to use
the function keys a little easier? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

thank you all,

Alicia
