Enjoy the Stream at the lowest price! The softpack gets installed any time you
update the Stream firmware, but to unlock the features it’s usually an extra
$50. It’s most popular feature is it can save recordings you make in notes
directly as MP3 files so you don’t have to convert them back to .wav in the
Humanware Companion software as you transfer them. However the recordings are
only 96 bit and don’t have any better sound than the original recording format.
So it’s mostly for the convenience of being able to have smaller files you can
store or E-mail directly from your computer without having to convert them
first. The soft pack will also let you transfer Word .doc and .docs files back
and forth from the Stream without having to convert them to rtf in Humanware
Companion first.

I have the Victor reader and love it. I also have the stream companion
software. But what does the Softpack do? I have heard about it but I don't know
what its function is. John
