Enjoy the Stream at the lowest price!That’s kind of the way I saw it, primarily because all the soft pack does is make things more convenient. You can accomplish the same things in other ways if you know what you are doing. Now if we could get some better voices for reading E-Text that would be a different story.

The softpack gets installed any time you update the Stream firmware, but to unlock the features it’s usually an extra $50. It’s most popular feature is it can save recordings you make in notes directly as MP3 files so you don’t have to convert them back to .wav in the Humanware Companion software as you transfer them. However the recordings are only 96 bit and don’t have any better sound than the original recording format. So it’s mostly for the convenience of being able to have smaller files you can store or E-mail directly from your computer without having to convert them first. The soft pack will also let you transfer Word .doc and .docs files back and forth from the Stream without having to convert them to rtf in Humanware Companion first.
