Have you tried doing a repair on Jaws?
Press Windows key r to bring up the run dialog and type in:
Jaws15 /type repair
Type it in exactly as it is shown above and press enter.

Darla is correct. Insert, otherwise known as Jaws Key, should open the
shutdown jaws dialog box.

Control won't shut it up; insert-f4 won't shut it down, and it seems to be
more verbose than the intermediate level I have it set up for.
I am running the latest build of JAWS on a windows 7 machine.
