Just in case his email is a gmail account. Gmail has an issue with Windows Live Mail in that it
considers it a "not secure application". You have to change the setting in gmail to allow
"not secure applications". It's not the easiest setting to locate and I usually have to
google search it.

Thanks for getting back to me.
The person asking me about this via phone has tried but can't seem to use
Windows Live Mail at all. He has given up and right now can only do his email
via phone. I will mention Outlook to him.
