Well yes. So? I consider atom:modified to be unfeasible anyway for all sorts of reasons, so we're not losing any capability here.


What if the Archivist is not the Publisher? They will then see many many
instances, all with different 'versions' ... are they to assume they are
different versions/editions, and put each and every dynamic instance into
the archive?

You'd be keying off a semantic atom:version doesn't have, which is a daft thing to do. If you want to determine which versions to store, wait for the content itself to change.
